About Us
BlueSky Positioning Ltd (UK) was founded in 2005 to develop and market new generation accurate and reliable positioning technology and services specifically designed for GSM and 3G mobile phones.
Current location methods use network information (Cell-ID) to estimate the position of a handset. At best, this method is capable of 100-300 meters accuracy in cities and from 300 meters to few kilometres in rural areas. This level of location accuracy is substantially below that required for locating a phone to satisfy US E-911 and forthcoming EU E-112 emergency service legislation and other mass-market location based services (LBS).
The network offerings are not accurate enough –operators may have to replace all legacy handsets to ensure compliance – a huge, complicated and enormously expensive task. Handsets incorporating GPS capability are still new to the market, and expensive.
BlueSky Positioning has invented and designed a technical solution that will deliver high accuracy satellite positioning capability to the mass market cost-efficiently.
